Radioplay based on Ted Hughes's life

Ann Skea informs me that there is a new radioplay based on Ted Hughes's life, which can be downloaded for free.

The play is made available as free-to-download/-listen and is based on memories of Donald Crossley who as a child occassionally played with Ted and his friends. Please note, however, that the play should be treated as fiction based on memories rather than factual biography.

Ann writes that one incident in the play records Donald's version of an incident from the story "The Deadfall": "[...] however, Olwyn Hughes tells me that Ted's ivory fox was not really found at the Deadfall – but that Ted did collect netsuke and there was certainly a fox amongst those [...]".

Several other incidents referred to are more fiction than fact as well.

My essay on Ted Hughes and childhood memories contains some additional information on some of the events referred to. It also touches on the fox story and the emergence of different and changing memories of the same events by childhood friends and by Hughes himself.
