Ted Hughes Award 2012

The Opens external link in new windowPoetry Society’s award for collaborative work in poetry is now in its fourth year. The Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry seeks to reward poetry in books and beyond - on the stage, on the radio, on film and TV, in art galleries and around us in the built environment.

We need your help to bring this year’s exciting new work in poetry to the attention of Poetry Society and Poetry Book Society members, who are invited to recommend the poet whose work they feel has made an outstanding contribution to poetry this year.

What you need to know:

  • Work should have first appeared in the public domain between the 1 January and 31 December 2012.
  • The prize, awarded to a poet, is £5,000.
  • Only Poetry Society or Poetry Book Society members can recommend work to the judges, but if there is work that you have seen or commissioned this year please still let us know. We may be able to feature it on our Opens external link in new windowNew Work page, which aims to demonstrate the scope of eligible work to members.
